Life changes. That’s what it does. Very few things stay the same over the long haul. Recently I had one of those moments. The kind where you wrap your head around something. And you feel like you understand not only the truth of the situation. But also the why.
Eighteen months ago, in the blink of an eye, my life changed. I became almost 50% busier professionally. At a time in my career when I was hoping for the opposite. It’s a scary thing when you are forced into realizing you have more capacity than you thought you had.
I had to sit in a reality that was greater than I could understand. A workload that was greater than I could handle. And a darkness that was darker than I had hoped to ever see.
The days were really tough. Motivation was more like survival. I wanted an out. But I learned reliance. I learned dependence. I learned that I can’t be everything to everyone. And I learned I shouldn’t try to be everything to everyone.
Looking back on that time, I can now see that the great thing about the bottom is that the only direction is up. I know that God was with me through every moment. And the lessons I learned were so valuable that I wouldn’t trade the wisdom I have gained even if it meant I didn’t have to go through it in the first place.
I don’t know where you are on your journey but I want to encourage you with this- your life has a purpose. You have infinite value. And I truly believe there are good days ahead. If not in this life, then in the life to come.
Please don’t lose hope. Life changes. Don’t miss out on the opportunities to be present in your life because it gets hard. I spent a lot of time feeling sorry for myself in that season. And I became a different person.
A #WINtheNOW mindset believes that the best is yet to come. It believes that in any circumstance we can try to find a win. Even if it is a tough spot. Even in the darkest moments, I still had the chance to bless people. I could leave a wake of blessing. I could still take care of myself. I could win for others.
And then time marched on and life changed again. Because it always does.
Don’t miss out on the moments of life because you are stuck in your thinking or your circumstances. Find some small wins and stack those up and your circumstances may change sooner than you think!
Believe it- Good Days Ahead!
